The Griffin's Aerie

a little about me and a little more about chainmaille

Elemental Leaves - Fire

I need to take a better photo of this, just as soon as I make another one. First one sold at MAGFest in January.

New scale earrings

I’ve finally gotten around to taking some photos of my scale earrings in a few assorted colors.

These earrings are done in my own design of aluminum scales and glass rings. The number of colors available in the metal, the scales, the glass rings, and the seed beads make nearly unlimited combinations!

I’ve heard people describe these as everything from flower petals to flip-flops. What do you think they look like?

Dodecahedron key chain bauble

Here’s my new dodecahedron key chain. This twelve-sided bauble is an excellent conversation piece or the perfect gift for the table-top gamer in your life!

Every single ring in this intricate dodecahedron is individually opened and gently hand woven into this pattern. The charm itself is about one inch by one inch and hangs from a standard keychain split ring. It’s made with bright aluminum and jeweler’s brass. Over time, the brass will tarnish while the aluminum stays shiny, giving this unique keychain a contrasting look that will continue to change!

I’m excited about how these little guys turned out, since I’d been wanting to learn this pattern for a while. I also think it’s nice to have a new trinket in the shop that isn’t specifically a piece of jewelry. What do you think of it? Would you want something like this on your key ring? What other colors would you like to see?

Welcome!

Welcome to my other little corner of the web. As a maille artisan, I make unique jewelry and accessories using varying metals and beads, in a style known as chainmaille. Check out the links to the right to learn more about me and my work.

I hope to use this area as a place to share my thoughts, new projects, and other random tidbits as I begin my journey of turning my hobby and passion into a business.

Thank you for stopping by!
